Ormesby's Reporting, Informing, Monitoring and Assessing to Parents (ORIMAP)

Like many settings, we have used Tapestry for your child's Online Learning Journal in our Reception class. However, we did not find this as efficient and as cost effective as we wanted it to be. As a result, the school have devised their own approach to assessing, monitoring, informing and reporting on children in Reception throughout their learning journey: that is with ORIMAP.

How will ORIMAP be used in EYFS?

  • Staff will use the child's Class Dojo profile to upload pictures of the child at school securely and add comments on observations for parents to see.
  • Parents will then be able to add their own comments on what staff have observed and shared securely.
  • Parents will also be able to upload pictures of what their children get up to when they are not at school. The Reception staff will then be able to respond or add to the observation that you have published, which all add to your child’s learning journey.
  • Each half-term, staff will upload half-termly planning to show what the children will be covering.
  • Each week, staff will share the weekly plans so parents can see what will be taught in more detail.
  • Each half-term, there will be stay and play sessions for parents to work with their child and see the work which has been produced around the room.
  • Carpet books and the children's own folders will be available to show work and progress.
  • In the Autumn and Spring terms, there are Curriculum Celebration Events, where parents are invited in to go through the learning journey of their child alongside their child.
  • Reception will also be hosting a Little Wandle Café for parents to receive an explanation of the school's Synthetic Systematic Phonics Programme which provides the important building blocks helping children learn to read.
