Positive Mental Attitude!

The Scarecrow wanted a brain, but only one with a strong mental health!

Well, it looks like the weather has taken a turn for the worst with wind and rain hammering down. Autumn is finally here!

This week, we had to adapt to Mrs Bunker being off for a little while whilst she recovers from surgery. We all wish her well. However, the Reception class remain in good hands and to help out, I have completed all the statutory Reception Baseline Assessments with the pupils. This has certainly helped me get to know them and vice-versa, but has also given me an insight into how well they approach learning. The two fun games in English and Maths, in part on the IPADs and in part with tactile resources really kept the children focused. They all did their very best.

The Health Team visited to check the Heights and Weights in Reception and this was completed very swiftly, so they must be a highly efficient group. I am sure if there are any concerns, they will get in touch with parents directly.

On Wednesday, the M&M Production Team returned to perform the Wizard of Oz for everyone. It was a very engaging and entertaining show and the behind-the-scenes workshop for Year 2 also gave some aspirational interest to the children keen on being a stage performer. Thank you to them and we will see them again next year for the Secret Garden.

Today, we have promoted the message that everyone needs to have a strong and positive mental health and that we all need to keep happy, healthy and safe especially when we feel low. This was all in honour of World Mental Health Day. The children know how they can protect their brains and minds by talking to a known adult when they need to and by keeping a positive mindset when things are difficult or challenging or when they suffer a setback. We all looked great with something yellow on and the positive messages on megaphones spread how we need to shout them aloud.

Next week, we have the Halloween Disco on Wednesday 14th after school with timings shared via the poster. We also have a non-uniform day on Friday in exchange for a Harvest Festival donation. All donations gratefully received and awarded to the Church for a local food bank. Teachers will also be sending out their scheduling link on Class Dojo for parents to arrange a parent-teacher meeting slot.

Have a great weekend everyone!
