Willing Volunteers!

Children volunteer to be part of Open the Book performance!

It was great to see so many willing volunteers put themselves forward to join in on the Open the Book story this week. Sheep, a baby and the voice of God were all included and the children listened intently to what was going on. We shall see what next week brings.

The children got to enjoy having their individual photographs taken this week. I think they looked very smart and wore their uniforms proudly. They do make lovely gifts for people, so make sure you get a few copies to share amongst your families.

I have been very impressed with the behaviour of our new Reception class, who I enjoyed spending some time with on Wednesday afternoon during the Little Wandle Reading Workshop for parents, as I covered Mrs. Bunker. The children have definitely embraced me as their Headteacher and are always keen to tell me what they are doing at any given moment. The story I told, guided by random sounds from a device I have, really grabbed their attention. Perhaps Pete the Polar Bear will make another appearance soon...who knows?

On Friday, we saw the Macmillan Cake sale return. It is usually our first event of the year where we can raise money for a worthy cause and meet parents and pupils together. Thank you for all the cake and money donations. Thank you also to the PTFA for helping and staff for setting up.

Next week, we have National Poetry Day with the them of "Play" and I will be excited to see what children are doing in classes as I continue my lesson observations.

Have a restful weekend everyone.
